Green practices in university libraries are essential as these libraries face severe threat as a result of the depletion of the ozone layer. However, green awareness is crucial to undertaking green practices by library personnel. This study investigated the influence of green awareness on green practices by library personnel in public universities in Southwestern Nigeria. It adopted a descriptive survey design of a correlational type, 244 library personnel were enumerated from 25 public universities. The questionnaire titled Green Awareness and Green Practices by Librarians in Universities Questionnaire" (0.82) was used for data collection. The data collected was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings revealed that library personnel exhibit a moderate level of green practices with weighted mean 2.89, while sustainable design and green services ranking highest, green procurement remained critically low. Green awareness among respondents was high (3.04). The frequency of green practices was predominantly occasional (3.01). Pearson correlation analysis confirmed a significant positive relationship between green awareness and green practices (r = 0.422; p < 0.05). The study concludes that broadening green awareness is essential to improving and institutionalising green practices in Nigerian public university libraries.
